Italian ‘adoptive parents’ offer presents to children from Chisinau boarding school No. 2

Children from the Chisinau boarding school No. 2 received Easter gifts from Italian ‘adoptive parents’. Instead, the children gave a small concert for the guests from Italy, Info-Prim Neo reports. The boarding school children sang folk songs and the song “Felicita” in Italian, which greatly surprised the guests from Italy. Also, a choir of girls sang several songs, while a group of boys played panpipes and trumpets. The event forms part of the “Long-Distance Adoptions” project implemented by the Philanthropic Association IRFF ONLUS. The project was launched in 1997 through the IRFF branch in Italy. Volunteers from Italy organize meetings to sensitize the people so that they provide financial support to one or several children in Moldovan orphanages. This way, the orphans benefit from support in the form of clothes, school supplies and other things from ‘adoptive parents’. The ‘parents’ come regularly to visit their protégés. IRFF ONLUS Moldova is a public, nongovernmental, nonprofit agency that works to eliminate poverty, malnutrition and disease. Founded in June 2001, IRFF ONLUS Moldova has sought to accomplish this goal by creating and sponsoring development projects that stimulate an exchange of knowledge, skills, and service between developed and developing countries. Since registered, the organization bears responsibility for the “Long-Distance Adoptions” project.
