It will be clear in a month when Investprivatbank depositors will receive savings back, c-bank chief
In a month it will become clearer when the depositors of the failed Investprivatbank will be returned their savings, said Leonid Talmaci, the governor of the National Bank of Moldova.
Talmaci ruled out the possibility that the depositors will lose their money, adding that that wasn't the first time that a bank went bankrupt and the depositors of the failed banks were and are still recompensed.
Talmaci also said a set of formal rules must be respected before the depositors can take their money back, and among them all assets must be inventoried and the creditors must be notified. Afterwards, its whole set of assets will be bought by another bank. “We hope this procedure is over in a month. Anyway, in a month it will become clearer when the depositors will get their money back”, the governor said.
Leonid Talmaci refused to tell what 'other bank' he was speaking about and didn't confirm reports that it might be Victoriabank. He said questions like this would be more appropriate when the liquidation proceedings are done and the bank is put up for sale.
After the National Bank repealed Investprivatbank's license, all the powers of the bank's board have been transferred on liquidator Ion Ropot.
