“It is a dirty business for buying voters in election campaign”, opinion

The €200 million that is to reach Moldova under the lending agreement with the Russian Federation represents electoral financial resources, stated MP of the Action and Solidarity Party Oazu Nantoi and political commentator Victor Ciobanu.

“They actually campaign and you already said that the conditions of this trap agreement were negotiated by Igor Dodon and someone from Moscow. My mate Sergiu Litvinenco noted that the procedures for signing this agreement in the Russian Federation were violated. I think this agreement is a dirty business designed to provide Igor Dodon with money for buying the most impoverished of us in the election camping, to ensure large kickbacks for those from the Kremlin, but that cursed article 7.2 that is absolutely obscure is even more serious and I consider that this article can enable Russia, if Dodon loses, to impose some astronomic debts on us that could destroy us,” Oazu Nanoi was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Expertise Hour” on Jurnal TV channel.

Political commentator Victor Ciobanu supported Nantoi’s assertions. “This lending agreement is definitely an electoral one and Igor Doodon said this repeatedly. If we remember, he promised first to build roads and this lending agreement was prefigured resulting from the election campaign. Initially, they said the loan will be of €500 million, then of €300 million and now of €200 million. Now Dodon prefers to scare us by saying that if this loan does not come from Russia, the pensions and salaries will not be paid starting with May. But initially this agreement didn’t envision such things,” stated the expert.

Pro Moldova parliamentary group member Sergiu Sîrbu, one of those who challenged this agreement in the Constitutional Court, said a number of legal provisions were broken.

“The procedure and all the negotiation stages were seriously violated. Some of the clauses run counter to the Constitution and the national interests of the Republic of Moldova. There is the risk of undermining national sovereignty. I’m not against loans, no matter where they come from, but not at any cost,” stated Sergiu Sîrbu.

Former MP Victor Stepaniuc said that all the procedures applying to international treaties were respected in the case of this agreement as the document went through the Government and was later presented and subjected to public debates in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.

MP of the Party “Dignity and Truth” Dinu Plângău said the procedures weren’t respected. “On March 13, by one decision, the Government decided to initiate negotiations and to sign the agreement. That’s why when being asked by MPs who negotiated the agreement, neither the Prime Minister nor the minister of finance could respond as no negotiations on this agreement were held,” he stated.
