Israel will provide assistance in developing cancer treatment, geriatrics and rehabilitation of disabled persons in Moldova, Israeli Health Minister Yaakov Litzman stated in a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip in Jerusalem on November 9. The interlocutors underlined the developing Moldovan-Israeli cooperation in medicine and health, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

Pavel Filip stressed the importance of borrowing good practices from Israel in developing a modern national health system and providing high-quality medical services. He also spoke about the possibilities of fostering cooperation based on the Action Plan in medicine and health for 2014-2018, which was signed by the competent institutions of the two countries. The document envisions enhanced exchange of experience in such areas as medical assistance financing, hospital management and coordination of implementation of reforms in healthcare.

For his part, Yaakov Litzman said the inter-institutional partnerships in the health sector should be developed, with emphasis on achieving new results in the health system and improving the qualifications of specialists in the field.

Pavel Filip also met with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu. The officials noted that the bilateral dialogue is very good, but there is a great unrealized potential. They pleaded for organizing in the near future a meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation and for liberalizing the airspace and operating low-cost flights between Moldova and Israel so as to foster trade and the flow of tourists from the two countries.

Pavel Filip invited Israeli businessmen to invest in Moldova and to participate in the privatization program launched by the authorities. The Premiers also agreed to promote direct contacts and political dialogue at all levels, especially between the Governments and Parliaments of the two stated. In this connection, Filip invited his counterpart to visit Moldova.
