Israel donates tablets for Moldovan educational institutions

Israel has donated 590 tablet PCs for educational institutions of the Republic of Moldova. The IT equipment will be distributed to schools that are attended by Ukrainian refugee children and also Moldovan children from vulnerable groups, IPN reports.

Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topală said the equipment is awaited in schools for being used at IT and other lessons. The Ukrainian students will also use them to connect up to online lessons taught in their native settlements, to communicate with Ukrainian mates and teachers. “The outfitting of general educational institutions with IT equipment is one of the key priorities in the digitization process. Today’s donation contributes to achieving this objective,” stated Anatolie Topală.

Israel’s Ambassador to Moldova Joel Lion noted the Israeli authorities are ready to support the people of Moldova and Ukraine in this difficult period amidst the war in the region.

The outfitting of general educational institutions with IT equipment will continue in the immediate period. Digital laboratories outfield with the support of UNICEF will be set up in 70 general educational institutions. The World Bank will help purchase over 5,000 laptops for schools. IT equipment will be also bought for schools based on a US$5 million grant from the Global Partnership for Education and over US$2 million will be used for the purpose. There will also be staged IT training courses for teaching staff.
