Divergences are witnessed between representatives of the government and the extraparliamentary opposition in a year of the taking over of the power by the Party of Action and Solidarity. Representatives of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” and the Liberal Party call on the government to ensure greater transparency and to combine the forces of all political parties of the right so as not to allow the oligarchic parties to return to power. For their part, representatives of the government say the resuts of the initiated reforms will be felt in several years, IPN reports.
Representatives of PPPDA said the government does not react to any of the constructive proposal formulated by the opposition and fully isolates itself from the opinions of specialists from outside the party. They accuse PAS of continuing the practice of rigged tender contests and of mimicking the justice sector reform.
“The Republic of Moldova is not ready to be ruled by one party. I saw an attitude of superiority among those who are in the Parliament and the Government to criticism and proposals. PPPDA formulated proposals when we saw that mistakes were made, but we were ignored. There are problems related to transparency. Ready bills are introduced into Parliament and are adopted in the absence of consultations. This is a practice that repeats this year. The justice sector reform sounds nice, but what do we have in reality? We supported the replacement of the Prosecutor General, but they should have acted according to procedure, correctly. We now risk being convicted by the ECHR because the procedure was not respected. We speak about the combating of schemes. Really? The tender contest to build electrical interconnection with Romania was won by a company from India. The contract is to the value of millions, but the tender contest was held for a contract of €20,000,” the representative of PPPDA Liviu Vovc stated in the program “Expertise Hour” on JurnalTV channel.
The representatives of PL are also not satisfied with the results delivered by PAS during the first year of government, saying that the whole government team needs to be replaced.
“The Cabinet reshuffles should start from the Prime Minister. There should be no anger, but the lady never corresponded and will not correspond to the post. Missis Prime Minister made multiple mistakes, starting from the way of expressing herself. The last mistake referred to the minister of agriculture about whom she lied. She hid the fact that he was against the liquidation of the Agrarian University. PAS should become open and should accept all those who have constructive viewpoints. We should think how to maintain a pro-European government during the next ten years so that we do not allow again a pro-oligarchic majority in Parliament?” said Liberal Dorin Chirtoacă.
For their part, the PAS MPs explained that the people’s dissatisfaction that is reflected by polls is due to the fact that painful reforms were started, which will produce results during the next several years.
“We do not focus now on the rating of PAS, on poll figures. I know that the people want immediate results, but some of the reforms will last for 6-7 years, as the justice sector reform will do. Why didn’t the opposition apply for any post in ministries? We waited for them. We are reproached for not accepting them in the government, but we need persons in ordinary posts. The decision-making posts were already filled. We need people everywhere. There is an acute shortage of staff in the Republic of Moldova and we invite all those who are of good faith,” said PAS MP Vitalie Gavrouc.
The Party of Action and Solidarity took over as a result of the July 11, 2021 snap parliamentary elections after gaining 52.8% of the vote (63 seats of MP), as against the 27.1% (32 seats) won by their main challengers of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists.
