“The temperature in polling places goes up figuratively as well,” head of the Local Elections Observation Mission of Promo-LEX Association Pavel Postica said in a press briefing where he presented the picture for the first half of the day, IPN reports.
According to the observers of Promo-LEX, at a polling place in Criuleni district, one of the election runners and a relative of this filmed the persons who came to cast their ballots at the polling place. This fact dissatisfied his opponent and the two clashed. Another case of use of violence happened at a polling place in Cimislia district, where a local came to vote together with a friend who didn’t have his domicile in that settlement. As the members of the electoral bureau refused to give him a ballot, an argument broke out and a member of the electoral office got into a fight with the man.
Among other irregularities identified by the Promo-LEX observers is campaigning. About ten cases of campaigning were recorded in Chisinau, Ialoveni, Casuseni, Calarasi, and Ocnita. There were discovered two cases of placing of election posters near polling places, in Sangerei and Floresti. At another five polling places, in Floresti and Causeni, the position of the polling booths didn’t allow voting privately. At a polling place in Causeni, a person asked for two sets of ballots, one for his son who was absent. The man managed to vote and to put the ballots in the ballot box.
At a polling place in Cantemir district, the electoral symbol of a contestant wasn’t included in the ballot. Cases of organized transportation of voters to polling places were recorded in Chisinau, Hancesti, Criuleni, Cimislia, and Calarasi. In Chisinau, it was discovered that 11 persons were registered at the same address, while in Durlesti town of Chisinau municipality – 19 persons.
A voter at a polling place wasn’t allowed to vote with the temporary identity card, while another voter didn’t get another ballot because he made a mistake in the first, but the legislation provides that the voter has the right to make one mistake. Five polling places didn’t have a safe and the security of ballots could not be ensured thus. There were attempts to take ballots out of polling places.
Challenges from 40 polling places came by noon.
