Irregularities related to the sale of products in insanitary conditions were discovered at some of the halls of the Central Market of Chisinau. In the April 11 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, the Health Division’s head Mihai Moldovanu said it was established that three halls for selling milk products, fish and meat are in a deplorable state, IPN reports.
Mihai Moldovanu noted that the situation at these halls is disastrous because the walls there are covered with mold, while the wall and floor tiles are broken. The houses are also full of dust and the floor is dirty. The administration of the Central Market and the responsible institutions should be notified of the conditions in which the perishable goods are sold so that these halls are inspected.
In this connection, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said the fish and meat halls are rented and work based on authorizations issued separately and these bear no relation to the Central Market. The administrator of the Central Market does not have the right to carry out inspections at halls that belong to private business entities.
