The central authorities of the Republic of Moldova do not respect the special status of the autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia, especially as regards the equal formation of the budget, and the unit gets less money than other regions of the country, Governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah stated in a festive ceremony held to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the formation of the Autonomous Republic of Gagauzia on August 19, 1990, IPN reports.
Irina Vlah said it seems that the friends of Gagauzia are such international partners as Turkey, Russia, Turkmenistan, the European Union and China, which helped implement projects that were really palpable for the people. “Regrettably, the official Chisinau does not perceive our autonomous unit in the same way as it is perceived by our foreign friends. There are misunderstandings, a “bureaucratic stop”. Why doesn’t Chisinau want to trust us?” asked Irina Vlah.
In the same event, chairman of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia Vladimir Kyssa expressed his gratitude to the veterans who contributed to the formation of the Republic of Gagauzia, noting that without the input and unity of the Gagauz people, the formation of the republic and later the obtaining of autonomy wouldn’t have been possible.
“To maintain statehood, real patriots should be trained to safeguard the future of the statehood of Gagauzia. The Moldovan people should show understanding of what the Gagauz people tend to do as the autonomous unit became a safe one, an anchor of the Republic of Moldova,” stated Vladimir Kyssa.
At the invitation of Irina Vlah, President Igor Dodon paid a working visit to Gagauzia. In the social media, President Dodon wrote that he took part in the festivities staged on the occasion of the Day of Gagauzia and offered schoolbags to children who go to the first grade this year on behalf of the Charity Foundation “From the Heart” run by the Firth Lady.
