Serious changes will occur in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, particularly in its legislative body, reelected Bashkan Irina Vlah stated in a special edition on NTV Moldova channel. According to her, the legislative and executive bodies will work in the current composition. If these are unable to, they could be dissolved, IPN reports.
As regards the legislative body, Irina Vlah noted it should be clear who the institutions work for – the people or a party.
Irina Vlah said negotiations on the laws that refer to Gagauzia and are to be debated by MPs are now being held with President Igor Dodon and Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grecheanyi and similar talks could be initiated soon with Prime Minister Maia Sandu. “I want to persuade the Premier to convene a Cabinet meeting in Gagauzia as the last meeting of the kind was held three years ago, when the plan for the socioeconomic development of the region was approved,” stated the Bashkan, noting this plan was implemented and a new plan is needed.
She said she has concrete proposals for the Government and for Parliament and intends to initiate discussions on the theme. “We really understand the problematic issues existing between the executive committee of Gagauzia and the Government of the Republic of Moldova and are ready to help Moldova’s new executive to address these problems so that the mistakes committed by the predecessors are avoided. We want to be partners,” stated Irina Vlah.
According to her, the current Government realizes that Moldovan citizens live in ATU Gagauzia and these work for the wellbeing of the Republic of Moldova.
