"We have already shown that all important decisions are taken only after extensive consultations with citizens. This is what I will do this time as well," said Irina Vlah, who ran for President as an independent candidate. According to her, after the October 20 election, when she secured significant support from citizens, she was besieged by her supporters, who asked her about the further actions. To decide what to do next, Irina Vlah wants to consult the citizens in a broad nationwide campaign.
"Given this situation, together with my team, I have taken the decision to start an extensive campaign of consultations with citizens on the further actions. As we have done for so many times, including this year, we will go to localities and discuss with the people. We will go, in particular, to the localities where I was supported by a significant number of voters. These people put hope in their vote and they should be directly involved in the decision-making process in the future,” Irina Vlah said in a press briefing at IPN.
The politician noted that she will discuss with citizens the expectations they have and what needs to be done for these expectations to materialize. "I do not accept the approach when politicians go to talk to the people only during elections, and the day after elections they disappear and are no longer interested in what the citizens think. I was, am and will continue to stand by the people because they deserve respect," said the former presidential election candidate.
Irina Vlah stated that she will take any opportunity to show to the people that their voice really matters. "Their opinions, their expectations were, are and will be for me a cornerstone in everything I do and will do in Moldovan politics." The former Bashkan of Gagauzia expressed her conviction that, this time too, the people will help her make a correct decision, which she will announce at the end of the citizen consultation campaign.
