IPN on March 26 published an OP-ED article entitled “Georgia’s European aspirations and lessons to be learned by Moldova”, signed by political pundit Dionis Cenusa. The analysis says the political and economic transformations witnessed by Georgia favor a very positive attitude on the part of the European Union. The satisfaction with Georgia is fueled to a certain extent by the reticence or the disappointment of the European institutions with the real speed of reforms in the other two countries with Association Agreements, Moldova and Ukraine. A project supported by Italy and the European Union will be launched in Moldova to facilitate the process of integrating the persons who go to the peninsula to reunite with their family. The project Form@ is implemented concomitantly in ten countries of origin of immigrants living in Italy, who asked for the reunification of the family. Vasile Tarata, who is responsible for the project Form@ in Moldova, said the goal is to facilitate the reunification of the family by training, before reaching Italy, through the agency of a system of services that includes information and assistance in the process of managing the entrance, civic-linguistic formation and orientation procedures. The possibilities of cooperation with Romania are unlimited and only will on the part of the Moldovan and Romanian authorities is needed in this regard. In Bucharest, such willingness seems to exist and a good government should be ensured in Chisinau so that this offers possibilities of improving the relations between the two states and of bringing them closer, PAS leader Maia Sandu stated in a news conference at IPN where the PAS, PPPDA and PLDM signed a cooperation agreement with Romania’s PNL. PPPDA leader Andrei Nastase said unity is needed among all those who do not only declare, but also prove that they are anti-oligarchic, democratic and pro-European. The president of the National Liberal Party of Romania Ludovic Orban said they give their support to the three Moldovan political forces in a move to help to really offer the Moldovan citizens a government in their favor as this is the last hope for the Republic of Moldova. The U.S. Embassy in Moldova commends the Government of the Republic of Moldova for acting in solidarity with the United Kingdom and its allies and neighbors in holding Russia accountable for its actions violating international law and threatening European security. The message comes after the Moldovan authorities decided to declare three diplomats of Russia’s Embassy in Chisinau personas non-grata. In an official statement, the U.S. Embassy says that standing with its European and international partners, the Republic of Moldova showed how seriously the world takes Russia’s ongoing global campaign to undermine international peace and stability, to threaten the sovereignty and security of countries worldwide, and to subvert and discredit Western institutions. The European Union is a leader by the volume of non-reimbursable financial assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova. Since it established cooperation relations with Moldova, the EU has offered over €900 million to Moldova. Currently, 76 projects with a total budget of about €379 million are being implemented in Moldova with EU support. The national plan of action for implementing the Moldova-EU Association Agreement during 2017-2019 will be updated following the implementation of the central public administration reform and the approval of the new Association Agenda with the EU on August 4, 2018. A decision to this effect was approved by the Cabinet on March 28. According to the Government’s press service, the updated plan incorporates the priorities of the new Association Agenda and clearly defines the tasks of the institutions responsible for the implementation of measures, based on the redistribution of powers following the central public administration reform. Climate change resilience and institutional development measures will be taken in the Ramsar Site “Lower Nistru” until 2021 within a project that was launched at the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment on March 29, 2018. The project will support the creation of a state-protected natural area called “National Park “Lower Nistru”. Six business support centers for small and medium-sized enterprises will be set up in southern Moldova within a project that is supported financially by the EU to strengthen the partnership between the public and private sectors in achieving the objective of sustainably developing communities and regions. The automated information system of the 112 Service can also process text messages. Now this is the only method for persons with hearing and speech impairments to transmit emergency requests, said Liviu Oboroc, director of the Common National Emergency Telephone Service 112. A delegation of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs and Committee on Budgets consisting of 13 MEPs will be paying a visit to Moldova during April 3-6. The MEPs will assess the implementation level of the Moldova – EU Association Agreement and will monitor the efficiency in utilizing the EU financial support.
