After the prime minister’s announcement about PAS lawmaker Sergiu Lazarencu taking over as Minister of Environment, Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov posted on Facebook that she decided to depart from the post in order to focus on “future projects that are closer to (her) heart”.
“It was an honor for me to serve as Minister of the Environment and to lead the Ministry’s team. During this period, I had the opportunity to work with a dedicated and enthusiastic team, who helped me lay the foundations of important initiatives for the protection of the environment and the sustainable development of our country. The projects started at the Ministry are vital for our future and the generations to come, and I am confident that under the leadership of the incoming minister, Sergiu Lazarencu, they will be continued”, said Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov.
Iordanov was appointed Minister of the Environment in the Gavrilița Government in November 2022. She survived the February 2023 cabinet reshuffle and continued to serve in the Recean Government as well.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced Sergiu Lazarencu would succeed Iordanov. Lazarencu, 38, has a degree in economics. Before becoming a parliamentarian in 2021, he was deputy mayor of Chisinau’s Stăuceni suburb.
