Ion Ungureanu to be buried in Chisinau tomorrow

/1:00pm/ The body of the late artist Ion Ungureanu will be laid at the Chisinau Church “Saint Teodora de la Sihla” at 2am on January 31, 2017. From 10am, the coffin will be available for farewell bidding at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac”. Later, the burial procession will head for the Armenian Central Cemetery, where the artist will be buried.

The body of the actor and film director Ion Ungureanu will be brought from Bucharest this night. The funerals were scheduled for January 31, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the coffin will be brought to the Church “Saint Teodora de la Sihla” in Chisinau at 10am. At 12:30pm, this will be then taken to the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac”, where a commemorative service will be held.

Ion Ungureanu was born in Opaci, Tighina, on August 2, 1935. He served as minister of culture and cults of Moldova (June 6, 1990 – April 5, 1994) and was a member of Moldova’s first Parliament in 1990-1994. He is one of the 278 MPs who voted the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova on August 27, 1991.
