Ion Sturza to present government program and candidates for minister on Jan. 2

The candidate nominated for premiership Ion Sturza announced that he will present the government program and the list of candidates for Cabinet member on January 2. He made the announcement after a meeting with Head of Parliament Andrian Candu on December 28, IPN reports.

As to the candidates for minister, Ion Sturza said the list is permanently modified. On January 3, the persons proposed for Cabinet member will sign an own responsibility statement. “I didn’t expect that some of the candidates would refuse to sign this statement. It is both good and bad,” stated Ion Sturza. He added that the list of candidates for minister will not include persons who want very much to hold such a post as well as those who do not want it much.

“I consider the candidates should be politically unaffiliated persons. We will constitute a team with a lot of new names, but these won’t be accidental persons. The candidates are talented people with appropriate studies. Today we do not need to import candidates as there are enough appropriate persons in the country,” said the candidate for Prime Minister.

Ion Sturza noted that during the next few days he will have meetings with the candidates for minister, with representatives of the business community and political parties and with local elected officials. The date of the special sitting of Parliament, where he will ask for a vote of confidence, will be set by the legislature’s Standing Bureau that convenes today.

Andrian Candu didn’t make statements for the press after the meeting.
