Former candidate for premiership Ion Sturza considers the early elections are inevitable and he intends to run in them on the list of a party. He made such statements in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“We will lay emphasis on consolidation. We will leave aside the doctrine and will place emphasis on the human factor,” stated Ion Sturza.
As to the absence of MPs from the sitting where he was to present his program and team, Ion Sturza said the goal was most probably to prevent him from addressing the nation. “I expected many things - from closed doors to heated debates - but I didn’t expect that a quorum will not be present. This is terrible. I presume they got scared of my message to the nation,” he noted.
The former candidate considers he fulfilled his duty. “‘I showed how the procedure must take place – in conditions of maximum transparence. I ensured the process is in full compliance with the Constitution. It was a situation when unordinary steps were to be taken. Things could have derailed a lot. I had to be near the head of state and to erect a wall around him. The President was blackmailed and pressed. Unplanned visits were made to him. If Timofti had yielded up and accepted the candidacy of Plahotniuc, we would have had mass protests that wouldn’t have been as mild as those mounted until now,” stated Ion Sturza.
He accused Vlad Plahotniuc of making the state captive. “All the developments depend on Vlad Plahotniuc. I do not want the people to be held hostage to the whims of this man. The people became slaves of the system created by Plahotniuc, who defies everything and everyone. Stealing from every loaf of bread sold, every kilowatt of electric power consumed and every minute spoken on the phone with relatives from abroad is inadmissible. Plahotniuc’s intention to enter big politics represents impudence, while those who support them are accomplices,” he said.
