Ion Sturza: I don’t think political opposition is able to cause large waves in Chisinau

Moldova’s ex-Premier Ion Sturza anticipates that fugitive MP Ilan Shor will be convicted. According to him, the extradition process can be successful. The political opposition is not yet able to generate radical changes in Moldova and the biggest problems to the country will be caused by the fugitive oligarchs who aim to avoid justice at any cost, IPN reports.

Ion Sturza said the absence of a separate meeting of Maia Sandu and Irina Vlah represents a communication omission. He considers that Irina Vlah intends to develop her political career at the national level.

“In half a year, Irina Vlah will be a private individual. She cannot run for the post of Bashkan and armies started to be formed there already. Someone from Chisinau tries to persuade her to continue her career as a politician at the national level. She is courted by a political party, by a former Prime Minister. They have a common communication strategy and the same communicator. But the approach is wrong. I would promise Missis Vlah the post of ambassador in Turkey and would propose Mister Croitor, who now serves as ambassador to Turkey, for the post of Bashkan,” Ion Sturza stated in the talk show “Reflection Points” on Vocea Basarabiei radio station.

The ex-Premier expressed his conviction that the epopee of the cases involving fugitive MP Ilan Shor will soon have an end result, noting that Shor is an undesirable citizen for Israel and this can contribute to his extradition.

“There will not be a hot autumn. The fugitives are the only source of uncertainty and problems. As far as I realize, Shor will be made inactive during the next few weeks. He will be convicted and the conviction will go directly to Israel for him to serve it. Meanwhile, an extradition process will be launched and this has chances of being successful. Shor tops the list of citizens who are unwelcome in Israel. I don’t think the political opposition is able to cause large waves in Chisinau. But we should not neglect the people who are dissatisfied with the government, who are concerned about the coming winter, about gas. I recommend the authorities to have a more transparent and direct dialogue with the citizens and not to tell them that everything will be fine, but to warn them that the winter will be hard,” stated Ion Sturza.
