Ion Prodan will play in Romania’s championship

National Under-21 team fullback Ion Prodan signed a contract with FC Clinceni of Romania’s second league. His new team struggles for promotion in the first league, having by 3 points fewer than the leader Rapid Bucharest, IPN reports.

In the last friendly played in Turkey, Prodan managed to score for FC Clinceni. He scored the victory goal in the match against Poli Timisoara. Artiom Karamyan, who played also for Rapid Bucharest and Poli Timisoara, scored for Clinceni too. Former striker of Rapid Ghidighici Alexandru Baltoi is also playing under the command of Valentin Badoi.

“Clinceni is a good team with skilful players. Coach Valentin Badoi made history at Rapid,” Ion Prodan stated for IPN.

Clinceni will play the next match on February 12, against Milsami Orhei. The 21-year-old fullback won Moldova’s Cup with Milsami in 2012. The previous two seasons, Prodan played for Speranta and Academia. The central defender is also an important figure at the national Under-21 team for which he played 18 games and scored one goal, against Russia.
