Ion Hadarca: We have majority in faction

Ion Hadarca, who is a member of the Council for Reforming the Liberal Party and one of the MPs excluded from the party, said that he and his colleagues continue to form part of the Liberal parliamentary group. “How can we leave the faction. We have the majority,” Ion Hadarca stated, when asked by IPN to say how they will act if he and his colleagues are excluded from the faction.

“We form part of the Liberal faction. The factions are created within 10 days of the constitution of Parliament and no other factions can appear afterward,” said the lawmaker.

Last week, Ion Hadarca and another six Liberal MPs, together with a number of heads of the local organizations of the Liberal Party, demanded replacing Mihai Ghimpu with Dorin Chirtoaca as party leader and returning to the negotiations on the formation of the new Government. The next day, Ion Hadarca and another four lawmakers were excluded from the party.

Asked if he will challenge the decision of the Liberal leader, which was supported by the Liberal Party’s Political Council, Ion Hadarca said that this decision runs counter to the party’s statutes. “The decision was taken by Mister Ghimpu. What shall I challenge there?” he said.

In a news conference on April 16, Mihai Ghimpu said that the membership of the five MPs excluded from the party in the faction will be decided in two days as he intends to raise the issue in the April 18 sitting of the legislative body.
