The Superior Council of Magistracy will suggest judge Ion Druta for the post of president of the Supreme Court of Justice and the candidate is to be considered by Parliament, IPN report.
Ion Druta was the only candidate in the contest to fill the post and was thus approved by the Superior Council of Magistracy in its April 25 meeting. Answering the questions of the Council members, the judge said he has all the capacities needed to serve as president of the Supreme Court of Justice and thus applied for this post.
To be able to take up his new duties, Ion Druta is to be confirmed to post by Parliament. The president of the Supreme Court of Justice serves a term of four years.
The post fell vacant after Mihai Poalelungi tendered his resignation following his appointment as judge and president of the Constitutional Court at the beginning of this March.
