Ion Dosca gets bronze at World Draughts Championship

The Moldovan draughts player Ion Dosca won the third place at the World Draughts Championship, which ended today in Saarbrücken, Germany. The new World Champion is the Russian Nicolai Struchkov. Silver went to Oleg Dashkov, also a Russian national. The Championship brought together 26 participants. In the elimination tournament, Ion Dosca managed to collect 13 points, by one less than the Brazilian player Augusto Carvlho. Fighting for the third place, Dosca beat his rival 2:0. Ion Dosca is the best rated Moldovan draughts player. He is a double USSR Cup winner (1980 and 1990), USSR Champion, Russian version (1991), medal winner at World Championships, universal version (1993, 1996-97, 2004), World Champion, universal version (1999), U.S. Champion, pool-checkers version (2000). In 2006 he won the 14th title of National Champion, Russian version.
