Grand International Master (GIM) at draughts Ion Dosca ranked third in the prestigious international tournament Valentin Abaulin, which took place in the Russian city of Tula on December 12-21, Info-Prim Neo reports. Since Dosca ended with the same number of points as the Russian GIM Yuri Korolyov, the rankings were assigned according to their international rating, advancing the latter ahead. The winner of the tournament was GIM Alexandr Georgiev, also a Russian. Abaulin tournament, which has been striving for a status of unofficial world championship or at least CIS championship for many years, is highly rated among the draughts player community. The international draughts tournament “In Memoriam Abaulin 2007” brought together 14 titled players from Russia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus, of whom 12 were GIMs. In November, ex-world champion Ion Dosca won the third place at the 2007 World Draughts Championship, which took place in Germany.
