Ion Creanga Library's Bibliobus goes to Drochia

The mobile bus of the National Children's Library “Ion Creanga” will visit a number of communities in Drochia district, where meetings will be held featuring the author Claudia Partole, who hails from Drochia, and Claudia Balaban, the Library's director. The mobile bus, called the Bibliobus, will be in Drochia on August 23 and 24 as part of a national campaign to promote reading.

The first meeting, to take place on august 23 in the public library of Claudia Partole's native village Cotova, will be followed the same day by participation in the district festival “La izvorul dorului”.

On August 24, meetings with readers will be held at the Drochia Library for Children and in the villages Ochiul Alb, Mindic, and Dominteni.

The children attending these events will be able to enjoy the services of the Bibliobus, which offers access to a varied collection of both printed and electronic books as well as educational electronic games.

The “Ion Creanga” Library started its national campaign in June 2014 to offer access to reading, knowledge, culture, and modern library services to children and youths across Moldova.

The campaign's program includes Bibliobus visits to different locations throughout the country, meetings with authors, public lectures, contests, book lending, educational activities, safe internet use courses, movie screenings, and other activities for children and the youth.

The Bibliobus boasts a collection of some 900 printed books and 600 electronic ones, CDs, DVDs, Wi-Fi, 3 laptops and 3 tablets, 2 eBook readers, a projector and a projection screen.

The project enjoys the financial support of Japan within the “Kusanone” Program.
