Ion Chicu, who served as secretary general of state at the Ministry of Finance, was suggested for the post of minister of finance after ex-minister Octavian Armașu was appointed governor of the National Bank of Moldova last week. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who is the first deputy president of the Democratic Party, after the party’s weekly meeting, IPN reports.
“I presented this candidate to the party mates and he was unanimously accepted. Today I will make the necessary approaches to President Dodon and hope he will not reject the candidate this time as Mister Chicu is a professional who has a very rich experience in the field. Mister Dodon on other occasions said he has nothing against professionals and those who come from a field and are experts in this,” stated Pavel Filip.
Ion Chicu was named secretary general of state at the Ministry of Finance on January 2, 2018.
