Ion Chicu: Premier’s leaving does not mean blocking of Cabinet

If the Prime Minister or a minister leaves, this does not mean that the Cabinet cannot work, said outgoing Prime Minister Ion Chicu. “The ministries remain fully functional and with very responsible persons. Leave the specialists there to work and don’t panic society as this will not bring you additional votes in elections,” Ion Chicu posted on Facebook. According to him, all the governmental institutions will work to capacity, in accordance with the status of an interim Government, IPN reports.

“If snap parliamentary elections are held in May and a new Government is not formed by July 1, 2021, the budgetary-fiscal situation will be stable, without major risks, surely if the people from ministries are allowed to work and “will not be taken by a caravan” through election campaigns, as earlier,” stated Ion Chicu. He called on the politicians to be respectful towards the specialists from ministries and not to scare the people. “Dear politicians, don’t mislead the people and don’t panic society. The daily activities and the affairs in the areas in charge are managed by people from ministries and institutions.”

Ion Chicu will hold the post of Prime Minister until December 31, 2020. Viorica Dumbrăveanu, Sergey Pușcuța and Anatol Usatyi will serve as ministers by the same date, while the other ministers will continue work.
