“Maia Sandu manages a party in which we still put hope in the current Parliament. We do not have hope in the rest. I call again on the MPs to leave the political ambitions, electoral strategies aside and do something for the people,” Prime Minister Ion Chicu was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.
Premier Chicu accused yet the PAS leader Maia Sandu of having disseminated false information about the assumption of responsibility by the Government before Parliament.
“I refer to the information about the costs for the Chisinau Arena or about the rise in MPs’ salaries. This is crass distortion by the representatives of this party. What is there against the citizens’ interests in those bills? Furthermore, I said that if you have other proposals, let’s discuss. We managed to make an amendment, but those bills have urgent elements for which the Government assumed full responsibility in accordance with the constitutional provisions,” stated the official.
He noted that the Government assumed responsibility before Parliament after the PAS and PPPDA repeatedly said that the Government should be dismissed, while the PSRM and PDM lost the parliamentary majority. “I didn’t have the feeling that they are ready to support even a less important bill, but this is history already.”
Ion Chicu voiced hope that the July 9 sitting of Parliament will be attended by at least 70-80 MPs so that he could present those bills.
After three failed attempts owing to the absence of a quorum, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said he will go again to Parliament on July 9 to present the bills for which the Government assumed responsibility last week.
The last sitting of Parliament set for July 6 could not take place as the quorum was not present. There were 50 MPs of the 101 in the hall. As at the previous two sittings, MPs Ilan Șor and Ștefan Gațcan and those of the PPPDA, PAS, Pro Moldova and the Shor Party were absent.
