Regardless of the financial situation and age, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova must obey the law, Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated, referring to the intention of the police to draw up a report against a woman who was selling greens on a street of Chisinau. He yet condemned the behavior of the police officers, IPN reports.

“The incident that involvement that elderly woman is regrettable. It is evident that the police officer does not occupy the right post. He showed an inappropriate behavior,” Ion Chicu stated in the talk show “Key Issue” on NTV Moldova channel.

However, he noted that regardless of the age and financial situation, the people should obey the law. “If the representative of the power said that it is not allowed, we should comply or there will be complete chaos,” stated Premier Chicu.

He condemned the incident and noted that such situations should not take place, but his colleague should have intervened if the police officer could not cope with the situation.

Ion Chicu said that both the protesting representatives of the hospitality industry and combatants who violated the restrictions concerning the number of persons who can take place in a public rally will be penalized in accordance with the law. “Some say that these should be fined, while others say that they should not be penalized. The state should fine them if they didn’t obey the law,” he stated.

On June 3, an elderly woman selling greens on Matei Basarab St, at the intersection with Moscovei Blvd, in Râșcani district of Chisinau confronted the police after refusing for several times to leave the place.

Following that incident, the Effective Inspection Division of the General Police Inspectorate opened an internal inquiry to establish all the circumstances of this case and the correctness of the police officer’s behavior
