A veterans bureau will be set up under the State Chancellery to deal with the needs of veterans. The regulations and normative documents for creating the bureau were already drafted, Prime Minister Ion Chicu stated after the working meeting of senior state officials, IPN reports.
Premier Chicu said the authorities will ensure real support for the veterans. “What we saw yesterday in the market is generally not care for the veterans. You saw the statements made by some of the representatives. These are political demands,” stated the official. He noted that the Government knows veterans’ demands, but these should not be imposed like ultimatums and through public safety violations, but should be discussed as part of a civilized dialogue.
A group of veterans on May 17 mounted a protest in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau, demanding, among others, that the Government should resign.
