The candidate of the Socialist Party for the capital’s mayoralty, Ion Ceban, says he wants to make Chisinau a "smart city". At a press conference, he has stated he sets out to ensure that "the City Hall and its digital services are a click away from each municipality dweller", IPN reports.
According to Ion Ceban, by using digital applications, people could reduce the cost of certain services and queues and limit corruption in the City Hall. In the candidate’s opinion, the priority areas in which the "smart" system must be implemented are the management of the housing, construction, energy, environment and education.
One of these applications is "city report", which will allow citizens to report a problem and the City Hall to react. Also, Ion Ceban intends to implement a one-stop shop for issuing permits. It could be implemented next year.
The Socialist candidate mentions that he intends to introduce a special article in the budget for applications. The envisaged necessary costs are estimated at 10 million lei, plus annual maintenance.
