The leader of the Socialist group on the Chisinau Municipal Council Ion Ceban tendered his resignation from the posts of secretary and spokesman for President Igor Dodon. He made the announcement in a press briefing on June 6, IPN reports.

He also announced that from June 11, starting at 8am, including on Saturday and Sunday, he will be at the Chisinau City Hall where he will have meetings with citizens and will become involved in activities and projects concerning Chisinau. He will work on the implementation of his electoral program that he presented during the campaign prior to the local mayoral elections and will act in the opposition.

Ion Ceban assured that the Socialist councilors will not block the work of the Municipal Council and will support all the good initiatives that will be proposed by the new mayor general. He registered a number of draft decisions and requested the Council to come together for a meeting so as to approve changes to the municipal budget.

A draft decision refers to the provision of 70 lei in support to family doctors, medical assistances, teachers and educators for traveling free by public transport. Another one envisions the institution of new units of personal assistants for persons with special needs. The third allows for the provision of a lump sum of 1,000 lei to over 5,000 teachers at the start of the school year.
