Ion Ceban says he wants friendly duel with Andrei Nastase for City Hall

The duel with Andrei Năstase for the capital's City Hall should not be a harsh one, but a friendly one. The statement belongs to the Socialist Ion Ceban, who announced the start of his election campaign for the mayoral office on September 9.

"The debates in the election campaign must focus on ideas and solutions. I do not think that Mr. Năstase is against anti-corruption measures aimed at City Hall nor do I not think that he is against good roads nor against social projects”, said Ion Ceban.

The Socialist described his wish to emulate a PSRM-ACUM alliance in the chambers of the Chisinau Municipal Council. "We can agree on some solutions that are important for Chisinau, considering that probably PSRM and ACUM will have a number of mandates ranging from 38 to 45 out of 51 mandates of Chisinau City Council", said Ion Ceban.

Answering questions posed by journalists present at the announcement event, the PSRM candidate replied that the voter decides who will be mayor, given that last year he lost to Andrei Năstase by collecting 12 thousand fewer votes. "We will try to be as flexible as possible, as close to people as possible and to spread as best as we can the message regarding our vision for City Hall", said the PSRM candidate.

Ion Ceban added that he has very good solutions for the capital’s stench issue. One of the solutions would be "the project that was voted on the refurbishment of the wastewater treatment plant. Additionally, we must also legislatively intervene in order to deny economic agents to leak pollutants”, said Ion Ceban.
