Ion Ceban promises to support persons with special needs and socially deprived ones

The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban promises to install 20 elevators for persons with disabilities in municipal institutions in the capital city and to set up tactile paving and 20 sonorous traffic lights for persons with visual impairments, IPN reports.

In a news conference, Ion Ceban said that if he is elected mayor of Chisinau, until November he will work out a program to support the persons with disabilities. He will constitute a council under the mayor general that will deal with the problems of persons with special needs. The programs to provide persons with hearing impairments with hearing aids and persons with visual impairments with special eyeglasses and support canes will be continued.

The candidate also said the pensioners, persons with disabilities and other social groups will receive financial support from the City Hall before the holidays and important dates. His team plans to extend the social centers so as to provide services to socially deprived groups, including pensioners and disabled persons.

A new shelter for homeless persons will be built under a public-private partnership. Three dorms will be reopened to provide housing for young families. There will be trained 300 personal assistants for persons with severe disabilities.

The Socialist candidate’s electoral program also envisions the augmentation of the number of beneficiaries of social eateries and of recipients of cold-month, water and household waste allowances and of persons who will benefit from free trips by public transport.
