Ion Ceban, the Socialist Party’s candidate for Chisinau mayor, is planning to double the amount allocated for parks and recreation purposes to at least 150 million lei a year.

“Chisinau was once famed for being a leader among green cities. But due to neglect from the municipal authorities, our green spaces appear today worse than we would like them to look. Political will, commitment, responsibility, and money are equally needed to change things and we will deliver this change. Chisinau will get its fame for greenery back,” Ion Ceban declared at a press conference.

According to Ceban, there are at least six parks and multiple other green spaces, from forest parks to squares, that need rehabilitation. Priority will be given to the parks Alunelul, La Izvor, Buiucani, Riscani, where rehabilitation works are already on-going.

For major rehabilitation projects, such as a promenade along the Bic river, Ion Ceban plans to attract private partners.
