Ion Ceban promises Chisinau will be a comfortable city if he is elected mayor

Ion Ceban, the Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayor general of Chisinau municipality, promises the streets and sidewalks in Chisinau will be repaired properly and new buses and trolleybuses will be purchased and assembled in the capital city if he is elected mayor. The promises were made in a news conference given in front of the head office of the Chisinau Urban Bus Company, IPN reports.

According to Ion Ceban, a Comfortable City means streets and sidewalks of a high quality, modern public transport and facilitated access for persons with disabilities and mothers with children in carriages to public institutions and public transport. Significant amounts are annually allocated for rehabilitating the roads and sidewalks, but the money is misused.

The candidate said the most serious cases of embezzlement were witnessed in time in the area of municipal road repair. He will work out a plan for rehabilitating the roads that will be proposed for public debates so that the citizens take part in the decision-making process. He will carry out rigorous inspections to determine the quality of works and, if these do not meet the requirements, will be re-executed at the expense of contractors.

Speaking about the municipal public transport, Ion Ceban said the situation is now deplorable even if a number of units of transport were purchased during the last few years. He aims to increase the number of trolleybuses used in Chisinau by 35 units and of buses by 50 units. Also, buses will be assembled in Chisinau and some could be sold to other Moldovan towns and abroad in the future.
