If he is elected mayor general of Chisinau municipality this Sunday, Ion Ceban promises to suspend his membership in the Party of Socialists (PSRM). The Socialist candidate made the announcement in an electoral debate staged by ProTV Chisinau channel in the evening of May 31, IPN reports.
“I set the goal of being an apolitical person in the current campaign and later and to make effort to ensure better and more efficient administration and I want to make an announcement in this regard. Together with Zinaida Grecheanyi and Igor Dodon, we discussed with the Political Executive Committee and decided that when my seat of mayor is validated, I will suspended my membership in the Party of Socialists and will focus exclusively on citizens’ problems,” stated Ion Ceban.
In the program, the Socialist candidate read a public commitment to this effect. “I pledge to be a mayor devoted to Chisinau and its residents and to show responsibility and professionalism,” said Ion Ceban.
In the June 3 mayoral runoffs in Chisinau, Ion Ceban will compete for mayoralty against the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase.
