The mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban is critical of the PAS government, saying this showed irresponsibility and incompetence in the management of the pandemic crisis and energy crisis. He yet noted that he levels his criticism at the government as a citizen and as the mayor of Chisinau, not as a person who intends to become involved in politics, IPN reports.

The mayor of Chisinau criticized the Government for the work done by this during the first 100 days in in office. However, he said his major preoccupation is the wellbeing of the citizens of the municipality of Chisinau, regardless of their political preferences.

‘These are not attacks, but comments on what is going on. It goes to inaction, irresponsibility and incompetence. In the suburban settlements, two mayor’s offices are managed by representatives of PAS, Stăuceni and Băcioi. The investments there are very large, but I do not make a difference because the mayors are from PAS. Over 70% of the projects stipulated in our electoral program have been implemented. Let the Government, Parliament and others show who else delivered on 70% of their electoral program during two years,” Ion Ceban stated in the program “Moldova Live” on the public TV channel.

Ion Ceban noted he is critical not only of the current Cabinet and he also criticized the members of the Government led by Ion Chicu. He denied the rumors that he intends to found a political party.

“As long as the interests of the inhabitants of Chisinau are encroached upon, I will act to defend them. Politics is excluded in times of a COVID-19 pandemic, in schools, in public transport. If the question is, if I intend to found a political party, my answer is “I do not”. I’m dealing with the priorities of the people,” stated the mayor.

In the recent period, the mayor of Chisinau has been more critical of the PAS government. He criticized the parade staged to celebrate the Independence Day and regularly levels criticism at the Ministry of Health, accusing it of badly managing the pandemic.
