Mayor General of Chisinau municipality Ion Ceban said the current City Hall is no longer functional for the objectives he set together with his team. In the program of TV 8 channel “Black box”, he stated a children’s museum could be opened in the historical building in central Chisinau that houses now the local government, IPN reports.
“We consider the City Hall should house the mayor’s office for meeting official delegations, for those who come on visit and want to see the City Hall, and also the protocol hall. We will hold public debates to decide on the rest of the areas,” stated Ion Ceban.
According to him, one of the ideas was to set up a science museum for children in the current historical building and to outfit it so that experiments in chemistry, physics, biology could be performed there. This idea was considered by the local administration.
The mayor noted he would like the current façade to be kept and to be only restored. “We are now budgeting money for next year. We will also resort to crowdfunding to seek support from the people, business entities. The City Hall is the hallmark of the municipality of Chisinau. It is a pearl created based on the design of Bernardazzi and its current state is unacceptable,” said Ion Ceban.
He added he would like the personnel to move out of the current building of the local government on March 1 next year.
