Ion Ceban aims to expand nourishment service for destitute persons

The Socialist Party candidate for the position of mayor of the capital, Ion Ceban, intends to expand nourishment service for destitute persons. According to him, over the course of the next four years, City Hall will open modern social canteens in each sector of the capital and in the suburbs. External partnerships, as well as local public-private partnerships will be concluded in order to construction the canteens.

"We have a lot of people who are sadder than us and have little to no income. It is regrettable that the state and the municipality still cannot provide adequate support for destitute persons or provide other special programs in this regard. There are no social canteens set up by Chișinău's local public administration. I think it is a serious omission”, said Ion Ceban during a press conference.

Ion Ceban pointed out that the idea of organizing social canteens belongs to his group from Chișinău Municipal Council, that he led over the course of the last 4 years. Based on the proposal of Socialist councilors, the daily allowance was increased for each beneficiary up to 28 lei, while the number of daily beneficiaries has increased from 700 to 1200 people.

In Chișinău, five economic agents operate in this field and Ion Ceban intends, as mayor, to extend this service. "During the first stage, we will triple the number of beneficiaries of free lunches. Subsequently, this number will increase every year, until everyone who needs this service will have access to it”, said Ion Ceban.
