Ion Botnaru has won a bronze medal at the Cadet European Judo Cup held in the Romanian city Cluj, IPN reports.
In the 90 kg weight class, he scored five victories in six matches, being beaten only by the future winner Ilia Sulamanidze of Georgia.
At the competition in Cluj, Moldova was represented by 24 boys and nine girls. Another two judokas, Ion Tonofrei (66 kg) and Paulina Turcan (40 kg), ranked fifth. In the medals standings, Moldova was 12th.
