Failed Investprivatbank will be bought by the Government, through the state-owned Banca de Economii a Moldovei (BEM). The state holds the largest stage in the latter, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from a communique of the government. The decision was made on June 23 at a sitting chaired by premier Zinaida Greceanai, and attended by the National Bank’s governor Leonid Talmaci and the president of Banca de Economii, Grigore Gacikevici. This means Investprivatbank’s depositors will automatically become BEM’s depositors, ensuring the protection of all their rights, reads the release. The government specifies it guarantees the integrity of all the deposits on Investprivatbank’s accounts. The Central Bank withdrew Investprivatbank’s license on June 19, reasoning it had submitted false reports. It triggered depositors’ protests, as they asked to be returned their money. The president and two top managers of Investprivatbank have been arrested for 25 days.
