Investment project of Kaufland to create 1,000 jobs in Moldova

The company Kaufland intends to build 15 shops in the Republic of Moldova. The investment project to the value of about €100 million envisions the creation of over 1,000 jobs. The first three shops are to be opened next year. The company’s administration discussed the issue with Prime Minister Pavel Filip in a meeting on May 16, IPN reports.

The company’s representatives said they managed to sign cooperation contracts with over 100 local suppliers and producers that were already listed for the Kaufland shop chain in Romania, with an export potential of €15 million a year.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the Government will support the potential investors and international companies that start important projects for Moldova’s economy. Speaking about the support measures, the Premier said the number of inspection bodies and of permissive documents will be decreased. Work is done to amend the labor legislation and improve the foreigners’ access to the labor market of Moldova.

Kaufland is one of the largest retail companies in Germany. It runs over 1 000 shops in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Romania.
