Investment in communications rose 4.9%
In 2011 total investment in the electronic communications sector, including mobile communications, fixed telephony, Internet access, data transmission, broadcasting and re-broadcasting, increased by 4,9% year-on-year to reach 1.81 billion lei, according to a report by the National Telecommunications Agency ANRCETI, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The largest investments, 1.13 billion lei, went to the mobile telephony sector, with an increase of 20.3% from 2010. Investment in broadcasting networks rose by 81.3% to 60.7 million lei. However, investment in fixed networks dropped by 17.9% and constituted 617.5 million lei.
In 2011, like in the previous years, the largest investors in the electronic communications sector were the companies Moldelecom, Orange Moldova and Moldcell, accounting for 91.9% of the total investment.
In 2011 the total value of the four electronic communications markets increased by 1.3% to 6.22 billion lei. Sales in this sector accounted for 7.72% of the 2011 GDP. The highest sales were registered on the mobile communications and landline markets, of 3.61 and 1.65 billion respectively.
