Officers of the National Anticorruption Center arrested an investigator of the Buiucani Police Inspectorate on suspicion of passive corruption. He is suspected of taking €200 bribe for closing a criminal case started against a person for swindle, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Center, the investigator was arrested immediately after he received the money, in his car. He was put under arrest for 72 hours.
The investigator faces 5 to 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of 20,000 to 60,000 lei for passive corruption. He will also be banned from holding particular posts and performing particular activities for a period of 2 to 5 years.
