An officer of the National Investigation Inspectorate was detained in a case of passive corruption. He is suspected of demanding and accepting money from a man in order not to document two cases of unauthorized trade, IPN reports.
According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Anticorruption Center, the policeman, together with a coworker, allegedly accepted and received 27,000 lei from a man for not documenting the unauthorized trade involving a group of people and on the same day received from the same man another €750 for not taking action with regard to another case of unauthorized trade.
Officers of the National Anticorruption Center searched the homes of the two policemen and a car. The apprehended police officer was taken to the Center’s remand prison.
