The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases finished the investigation into another episode of the case of embezzlement at Moldova’s Railways (CFM), which features a person who formed part of the company’s administration in 2018-2019, IPN reports.
The person is accused of professional negligence as a result of which the company failed to collect almost 800 million lei revenues in 2018 and 2019. Consequently, CFM was unable to cover internal losses suffered from other activities, with damage of almost 100 million lei being caused to the company’s property.
Professional negligence carries a fine of up to 42,500 lei or at most two years in jail, in both of the cases with or without a ban on holding particular posts or performing particular activities for a period of two to five years.
In March, the prosecutors completed the investigation into another episode of this case, against a person accused of abuse of power. The case was sent to court.
