Investigation into case of public disorder involving seven men completed

The investigation into the planning of public disorder by seven men was finished. According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, the members of the organized criminal group identified and recruited a number of persons, especially young people of athletic build who included former convicts, to work as part of so-called “special groups”, IPN reports.

The prosecutors said the men aged between 21 and 39 have Moldovan nationality. They have the place of residence in northern Moldova, including Balti, and three of them had been earlier tried for theft and burglary. The organizer is aged 40 and is from Balti. He also has the nationality of another state in which he had worked before he returned to Moldova.

The accused and those who were recruited by them were rewarded, some of them with 1,000 lei a day. The latter were this way predisposed to commit offenses and illegalities. Moreover, the group members trained these how to act in a violent way during the demonstration. The public disorder was planned to be staged in the course of 2023, including during the protest mounted on March 12 this year.

The accused are held on remand. Participation in public disorder is punished with tree to seven years in jail. The investigations in the basic case continue.
