Inventorying of billboards and advertising devices in progress in Chisinau

All billboards and advertising devices in the municipality of Chisinau are included on a GIS platform where it can be seen if they are legally placed, deputy mayor Ilie Ceban announced in a meeting of officials of municipal services, noting that the inventorying process was initiated three weeks ago, IPN reports.

Currently, there are about 500 legally placed boards in Chisinau and the rest are unauthorized. Over 150 of them are located on Dacia Boulevard alone, the deputy mayor of Chisinau said.

Mayor Ion Ceban pointed out that, in the first two years of his previous term, over 2,000 advertising devices were taken away. "There are 'tricksters' who invent different stories and illegally set up such panels. We will investigate whether someone from the local administration favors in one way or another the illegal installation of these billboards. If we detect such cases, we will impose punishment," stated the mayor.

Ion Ceban said that the municipality has no objections to the economic agents that want to place advertisements in the city, but this must be done legally and the ads must fit into a visual context, according to the standards in the field, and not be placed chaotically. For the adds, money is paid into the budget of the Chisinau City Hall.
