Interurban bus and minibus fares will not be raised

The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure rejected the carriers’ demand to increase the interurban bus and minibus fares, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I will not yield to the pressure exerted on me for a period,” Transport Minister Anatol Salaru said in a program on the public TV channel Moldova 1. “The carriers have demanded raising the fares for over a year, but I will not allow this to happen,” said the minister, adding that there are certain reserves allowing decreasing the fares. In the same program, Anatol Salaru informed that a number of road sections will be repaired in 2012 with the larger amounts that will be transferred to the Road Fund. “The Road Fund this year is 784 million lei, while in 2012 will be 1 billion lei and this will enable repairing a number of road portions,” said the minister. More than 400 km of road have been repaired this year. Over 60 km of road are projected to be rehabilitated next year, while in 2013 − 1 000 km. According to Anatol Salaru, this is possible owing to the foreign financial assistance.
