The 53rd International Music Festival “Martsishor” will consist of 47 performances of music that will involve famous national and foreign artistic groups. The festival is opened at the National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” on March 1 by a musical-choreographic performance and ends on March 10, IPN reports.
Minister of Education, Culture and Research Monica Babuc told a news conference that 22 of the 47 concerts will be held in 13 districts and municipalities of Moldova, in Anenii-Noi, Bălți, Cimișlia, Criuleni districts, ATU Gagauzia, Tiraspol and Bender towns. Besides renowned artists from Moldova, the festival will bring together artists from Armenia, Austria, China, Italy, Latvia, France, Russia, the UK, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Spain, the U.S. These will perform different types of music, such as folkloric, classical and symphonic music, jazz and rock.
Traditionally, the festival will involve such well-known national groups as “Lăutarii”, national academic folk dances ensemble “Joc”, the Presidential Orchestra, “Brio Sonores”, “Alex Calancea Band”, ”Fluieraș”,”Folclor”, ”Plăieșii”, “Cadânjea”,”Rodoliubie”, the National Chamber Orchestra, and also foreign groups, such as “Joy”, “Klezmer Swing Quartett”, “Baccara”, “Uriah Heep”, Pupo, Goran Bregovici, “Shenzhen Aihua Chinese Music Ensemble”, “Holograf”, Gabriel Dorobanțu, “Mirage” etc.
National Palace “Nicolae Sulac” director Andrei Locoman said the festival will be opened by the musical-choreographic performance “In a duo with spring” that will feature the Orchestra ,”Lăutarii”, ,”Alex Calancea Band”, Monica Anghel, Paula Seling, Mariana Bulicanu, Vali Boghean, Ion Paladi, Cristian Botgros, Tatiana Jacota, Lilian Roșca, “Joc”, “Brio Sonores” and the children’s folkloric ensemble “Măruț Mărgăritar”.
Svetlana Bivol, director of the National Philharmonic “Sergei Lunkevich”, noted that this longest-living event is maintained and this is very important. The philharmonic will house eight concerts and will stage another 11 concerts in districts. The tickets to some of the performances were already sold.
“Every time we make effort not to disappoint. We want to show that the ensemble “Joc” is one of the nicest creations of our culture and we are very proud and honored to be closing the 53rd International Music Festival “Martsishor”. We will present not a simple concert, but a conceptual performance that will include the oldest ritual dance of our nation - călușarii (horse-riders)… Together with stage manager Sandu Vasilache, we will try to revive the older legend,” said Aliona Baroncea-Strâmbeanu, director of the national academic folk dances ensemble “Joc”.
The festival’s budget is over 2.6 million lei. Tickets cost 50 to 1,100 lei.
