More than 250 parents and children on May 24 celebrated the International Children’s Day and the International Day of Families at the Museum of Arts of Moldova, IPN reports. An event dedicated to families has been staged at the museum since 2010, but this year it was decided to also mark the International Children’s Day the same day, said Lucia Postica, head of the museum’s public relations service.
“We decided to organize a double holiday as it is funnier when both the parents and children become involved and spend more time together. We want to attract more people so that the parents are near their children and can rejoice at their successes,” stated Lucia Postica.
The children sang, danced and told riddles, while five families competed in an entertaining contest.
Maria Dolghii, a teacher at the Chisinau Secondary School No.7, said the children become richer spiritually by such activities and such recreation is welcome after a year of studies.
The parents welcomed the event, saying that this way they can spend more time together with their children. Veaceslav Tutunaru considers arts should be cultivated among children from school. “If the children are taught the cultural values since they are young, they would think in a different way compared with us in some situations when they grow older,” he stated.
Natalia Sarbu is the mother of a boy aged eight. She said the cultural activities enable the parents to be near their children and to experience again childhood feelings.
The festive program involved children of the Theoretical Lyceum “Gh. Asachi”, the Theoretical Arts Lyceum “Nicolae Sulac” and Secondary School No. 7 of Chisinau.
